SPECIFIC PLANS OF ACTION

Bringing new things in AdDU, new things in SAMAHAN.

1. SAMAHAN + Inaugural OVP

An ad hoc committee that will establish the very first Office of the Vice President (OVP) will be formed. Through this committee, the Internal Rules of Procedures of the Student Assembly will be crafted, with emphasis on the specific standards and procedures to be followed in reviewing, accepting, and/or rejecting new committees, appointments, policies, and programs of the SAMAHAN Central Board. This is to ensure that an objective and impartial decision-making will be rendered by the Student Assembly.

2. SAMAHAN + Pioneering Departments

SAMAHAN Department of Academic Affairs

The new SAMAHAN Department of Academic Affairs will be established in order to respond to the academic needs of the students. Similar to Accountancy Cluster’s newly launched ASSETS, the following are some of the functions of this department:

a. Conduct and regularize tutorial sessions across all clusters in Ateneo twice a month.

b. Communicate with notable alumni and other professionals in various fields to invite them to discuss difficult and crucial topics.

c. Create a systematic and comprehensive Google Drive per cluster, which shall contain relevant academic materials available for sharing to all students.

SAMAHAN Department for Disaster Risk Response

We have seen the importance of iHelp SAMAHAN this year; so in our term, we will build stronger foundations and clearer goals as we expand iHelp to an ad hoc department to be officially called as the SAMAHAN Department for Disaster Risk Response.

By having a department dedicated for this endeavour, issues on budget and systematic implementation will be resolved. In addition, there will be a dedicated group, preferably the Council of Class Presidents who are closer to the students, that will carry out all the programs under this new department. 

3. SAMAHAN + More Board Resolutions

One of the most essential functions of the Student Assembly is the creation of board resolutions, or policies and programs, that will respond to the needs of the multi-sectors of the university. In order to fulfill this function, the following platforms shall be provided:

Pre-Congress Capacity Building and Workshops

To be conducted in May to June 2021, a series of workshops will be given to the members of the Student Assembly in order to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills in crafting board resolutions and other legislative procedures.

The Ateneo Student-Leaders’ Parliament 2021

The Ateneo Student-Leaders’ Parliament 2021 is a 2-day model congress where members of the Student Assembly are given the opportunity to craft and approve landmark legislations and board resolutions for the improvement of our collective university experience, especially for our sectoral groups such as the Ateneo Lumad Association, Student-Athletes, International Students, Ateneo Muslim Society, Ateneo de Davao Scholars Society, Ateneo Libulan Circle (LGBTQIA+), and Persons With Disability.
